3D2N Taroko National Park Camping Itinerary | Zanne Xanne’s Travel Guide

Hello folks! Finally, it is my final post about Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园) and I spent 3D2N camping at Lushui Campground (太魯閣綠水野營區) which is a safe and free location to camp within the park. And here are some of the itinerary and tips that I would like to share with you:

CAMPSITE LUSHUI CAMPGROUND | 太魯閣綠水野營區

We decided to escape to the nature and camp at this beautiful and breathtaking Lushui Campground (太魯閣綠水野營區) in Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园) that brings you feeling of zen with only the lush greenery, bird chirping, fresh air and blue sky. Lushui Campground (太魯閣綠水野營區) is safe and ideal location to camp in the park  that equipped with the basic facilities such as wooden tables and chairs, water stands and light. Campers are free to use the toilets of Lushui Highway History Exhibition Hall, which is located next to the campsite too.

WEATHER

It was raining season at Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园) especially during April to June, summer season. The rain has increased the difficulty of hiking level, which causes the trails become muddy and slippery. Hence, it is essential to check the weather forecast frequently as some of the trails and tours often cancelled due to the bad weather.

SAFETY ISSUE

Accidents may happen anytime, hence safety is the top priority during your hike at Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园). Visitor can borrow a free safety helmet from the entrance of Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园) too, especially when you are visiting Swallow’s Grotto (燕子口) as the rocks may fall due to some minor earthquake.

DAY 1

TIEN HSIANG | 天祥

Tien Hsiang (天祥) is located 9km away from Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园) gate and 45km away from Hualien city. Tien Hsiang (天祥) is also considered a recreational area for the visitors to take a rest before continuing their hiking journey at Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园).

Tien Hsiang (天祥) is surrounded by wondrously challenging topography – mountain tops and river dales, tunnels and bridges. The Liwu Stream and Taosai Stream both meet at Tien Hsiang (天祥) and they are 450m above the sea level. Wish to read more? You may click HERE to find out more about Tien Hsiang (天祥).

XIANGDE TEMPLE | 祥德寺

Xiangde Temple (祥德寺) is one of the beautiful temple that offers an awesome and panoramic bird’s eye view of Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园). Xiangde Temple (祥德寺) was built in the middle of the mountain and located opposite of Pudu Bridge (普渡桥) and Tien Hsiang Recreational Area (天祥). Wish to read more? DAY 2

ZHUILU OLD TRAIL | 錐麓古道

Zhuilu Old Trail (錐麓古道)  is one of the best and exciting historical trail at Taroko Gorge National Park (太鲁阁国家公园) that offers a vertical cliff section with breathtaking view of 500m above the deepest marble gorge. Zhuilu Old Trail (錐麓古道) is also a long stretch cliff  that has an amazing and breathtaking scenery. SWALLOW GROTTO | 燕子口

The creation of 1.4km of Swallow Grotto (燕子口) was formed by the erosion and constant tectonic collision around Liwu River. Swallow Grotto (燕子口) used to be under the ocean and visitors have the opportunity to see the sedimentation on the surface by recognising the black and white layer. DAY 3

BAIYANG TRAIL | 白杨步道

Baiyang Trail (白杨步道) is the most easier trails to hike. You may follow  Baiyang Trail (白杨步道) signage as you reach the entrance gate situated next to the main road. Along the hiking journey, you will reach Observation Platform (观景亭) at 0.95KM, Baiyang Suspension Bridge (白杨吊桥) at 1.9KM and Water Curtain Cave (水帘洞) at 2.1KM. Wish to read more?
